Requirements

  • Participants should have previously compiled a kernel for a standard desktop (non-embedded) Linux system.
  • Familiarity with the components that make up the Linux userspace on desktop systems is required.
  • Proficiency in generating and applying patches is necessary.
  • Participants must be able to articulate the functions of GNU Make and Autotools, as well as identify other prevalent build systems.
  • Ideally, candidates should currently maintain at least one Linux package, whether as an upstream author or within a traditional Linux desktop distribution.
  • Prior experience in embedded development is not a prerequisite and does not replace the foundational knowledge of traditional Linux desktops outlined above.
